Kentucky, Pulaski County Court, June Term 1817; Agreeableto an order of the Courty Court for the Courty aforesaid,this indenture is made between William Fox as Clerk of saidcourt in behalf of Henry Martin (alias Turpin) orphan ofAley Mansford late Aley Martin of the one part, andMagdalin Turpin of the other part witnesseth that the saidHenry Martin (alias Turpin) is honestly and industriouslyto serve and obey the said Magdalin Turpin in all lawfulcommands until he shall be twenty one years old and she thesaid Magdalin Turpin doth covenant and agree to find thesaid Henry Martin (alias) Turpin a sufficiency of goodclothes as also a sufficiency of good wholesome diet andall other necessaries so long as he shall serve her and tolearn him the said Henry Martin (Alias) Turpin, all thecommon arts and mystaries of the farmers trade or businesand to have him taught to read and write and commonarithmatic including the rule of three, and to treat him ina humane and tender manner in all things and at theexpiration of the said Henry Martin (Alias) Turpin servewho was twelve years old the 4th day of December 1816, thesaid Magdaline Turpin is to given him three pounds tenshillings and a decent new suit of clothes. In witnesswhereof the said Magdalin Turpin and the said William Foxas Clerk of the said court hath hereunto set his hand andafixed his seal this 23rd day of June 1817.
